  • Forehand Lesson 2 V1

Taking some swings after exploring forehand grips (Eastern to Western)!

After explaining how the change in grip will affect her shot, she changed from Continental to a modified Eastern grip without missing a beat! Now, she can hit further in front with shape!

And this was just the beginning.

  • Forehand Lesson 2 V2

Moving on to exploring depth, shape, and direction.

It’s one thing to hit a ball straight without much thought, but how about hitting all parts of the court with variation in pace, spin, and shape?

The student did an amazing job despite having learned a new swing 20 minutes before this moment!

  • Forehand Lesson 2 V3

Her forehand was coming along well, but then we noticed that she lacked a split step. Split steps are a non-negotiable part of tennis. So, we got to work!

She already had a natural sense for the timing, and it was just a matter of learning how to do it.

She absolutely blew that out of the park and got to find a new level of movement and readiness that elevated her new forehand to new heights.

  • Forehand Lesson V1

It’s important to know where students are with their current game.

On the forehand side, we often resort to many unique and creative ways to create more power, consistency, and shape.

Here, my student shows me her swing before instruction.

It is a swing that has served her well in tournaments and league, bringing a fearsome ball to the other side.

  • Forehand Lesson V3

All things must come to an end…

By the end of our lesson, we thoroughly established a foundation on the forehand side. I was done, but apparently, she was not!
